Preamble
Whereas God has called us into fellowship with Himself, made possible through the blood of His Son, the Lord Jesus Christ, and has committed to us the responsibility of teaching children, we hereby unite ourselves in this organization, trusting God the Holy Spirit to be our great Guide and Counsellor, and undertaking to bear one another’s burdens, in accordance with biblical standards of Christian fellowship.
Purpose and Mission
GSACS exists to protect religious freedom, support Christian education in the West by advancing the success of Christian schools and educators, and assist in the development of students academically and spiritually.
Philosophy of Education
- We believe that true Christian education is based on the primary source of Truth, God’s Word.
- We believe the responsibility of education is assigned to the family and the local church.
- We believe the primary purpose of Christian education is to develop young people with biblical character who will live for the glory of God and to prepare students intellectually through the teaching of traditional academic disciplines. A school’s policies, discipline, curriculum, and events work together to accomplish this goal from a biblical worldview.
- We believe that God has delegated the authority to parents to “train up a child in the way he should go,” and that it is the parents’ right to extend that authority to pastors and teachers. The child has the responsibility to give proper respect and obedience to those in authority over him.
- We believe that every student is a special and unique individual created by God. We further believe that each student is ultimately responsible to God as Creator and Judge.
- We believe that a Bible-based, Christ-centered, teacher-directed approach, as taught in the Word of God, ought to be the methodology of the Christian school and Christian school teacher.
- We believe that the “child-centered classroom” and those methodologies which allow the child to set his own standard or choose the direction of his education are harmful to the student.
- We oppose modern progressive education because it rejects Bible principles in favor of atheism, humanism, naturalism, secularism, materialism, temporalism, permissiveness, relativism, and socialism, which we believe to be godless philosophies of life
